Winemaker Notes :
This wine come from one of the coolest vineyards we have the opportunity to work with. It has extremely gravelly soils and short, low to the ground vines. Typically, Petite Sirah has large tight clusters, the lower vigor nature of the site gives us extremely small berried clusters. The wine made from this vineyard is typically the darkest of the season. Aged 24 months in French oak.
Varietal Note:
Petite Sirah thrives in Paso Robles. We love Petite Sirah because of its excellent ability to elevate red blends as well as stand-alone.
Food Pairing:
Pairs well with roasted lamb, wild game, and stuffed Portobello mushrooms. Also pairs well with a good cigar.
Vintage Notes:
Vintage 2020 began with an encouraging mild start and lower than average rainfall. Bud break and bloom were a couple weeks later than average, setting the growing season back slightly. Temperatures rose significantly in August, shortening the seasonal delay. Heat waves plagued the season from August to October, with temperatures over 110°F for extended periods of time. Harvest began on August 17th, with white wines showing great quality despite the heat. At the end of one of the warmest vintages in Paso, we have found wine flavors and quality to be very good with excellent concentration.
